JDA Software POS — bank compatibility

JDA Software is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by JDA Software Australia. A vendor name that stopped existing in 2020 — the company behind it belongs to Panasonic now.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

JDA was founded in 1985 by James Donald Armstrong and Frederick Pakis in Cleveland, Ohio, moved to Arizona in 1987 chasing a Phoenix retail contract, and listed on 15 March 1996. It then bought its way up the retail stack for twenty years: Comshare's Arthur Retail unit for $44m in 1998, Intactix for $20.5m in 2000, Manugistics for over $200m in 2006, i2 Technologies for $346m. New Mountain Capital took it private for $1.9 billion in 2012 and bolted it onto RedPrairie.

Then the name went. JDA bought a German AI firm called Blue Yonder in 2018 and in February 2020 simply took its name — JDA Software became Blue Yonder, Inc. Panasonic had taken a 20% stake in 2020; on 17 September 2021 it closed on the other 80%, putting in $7.1 billion and valuing the business at $8.5 billion. It sits inside Panasonic Connect today, with around 8,000 staff.

Practical point for anyone with 'JDA Software' on their integration paperwork: that vendor has not existed under that name since February 2020, and Blue Yonder's published product line is supply chain planning, warehouse and transportation management — not a store till. If you are chasing support or a recertification, you are looking for Blue Yonder or Panasonic Connect. Budget time for that conversation.
