LOTS POS — bank compatibility

LOTS POS is a point-of-sale system for pharmacy retail and retail. Sold out from under its users in 2023 — the pharmacy software business that owned it went to Canada's Constellation Software, and most pharmacists never got the memo.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

LOTS POS is the counter half of the old Corum pharmacy suite — Tyro Health still lists the company as Corum Group Limited and the product as a pharmacy-specific point of sale. In July 2023 Corum Group (then ASX:COO) agreed to sell the entire pharmacy software business to Jonas Software AUS Pty Ltd. The deal covered the subsidiaries Corum Health Pty Ltd and Amfac Pty Ltd, carrying the Corum Clear, LOTS Dispense and Amfac Windows Dispense brands, for a total of $6.25 million: $4.75 million up front, $1.5 million deferred a year, and earnouts tied to recurring revenue targets.

Jonas is one of Constellation Software's operating groups — the Toronto-listed acquirer that buys vertical market software businesses and holds them indefinitely rather than reselling. So the till in the dispensary is now a Canadian-owned asset, run by a group whose model is long-term ownership of small niche software. That is not necessarily bad news for support, but it is a different owner with different priorities than the ASX-listed company whose name is still on the box.

What Corum kept was the more interesting asset: PharmX, the electronic ordering and invoicing gateway sitting between pharmacies and their wholesalers, plus PharmXchange. It returned $4.5 million of capital to shareholders, appointed a new chief executive in November 2023 and renamed itself PharmX Technologies (ASX:PHX). The company whose brand is on your point of sale no longer sells point of sale at all.
