Lotus POS — bank compatibility

Lotus POS is a point-of-sale system for cafes, general retail, hospitality and quick service, and 2 more. The Melbourne half of a Sydney and Melbourne pair, and a separate company that inherited the Lotus name in 2014.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

The integration covers pay at table.

Lotus POS Pty Ltd, ABN active from 6 May 2014, GST from July 2014, main business location VIC 3066 in Collingwood. It is a distinct legal entity from Sydney's Intelligent Pos Pty Ltd, with no parent-subsidiary link on either record, but the two are plainly one operation: lotuspos.com.au lists a Sydney branch pointing at i-pos.com.au, and i-pos.com.au lists Melbourne pointing back here.

The Lotus name did not start in Melbourne. Intelligent Pos in Sydney held Lotus Electronics And Computers and Lotus Cash Register as registered business names from June 2009, and the Lotus Cash Register name was registered to this Melbourne entity in May 2014, the same month it was incorporated. The brand moved rather than being founded.

The software lines are the useful detail: Digital Data Assist Retail Edition, Optimus NOVA, and ScalePOS, an integrated POS-and-scale product. That is the tell -- this is weighed retail, so grocers, supermarkets and delis rather than cafes. It also sells a Lotus POS self-ordering kiosk, served from a page URL that still reads ipos-self-order-kiosk and an image file named iPOS-Self-ordering-Kiosk, which is another sign of how tightly the two brands share a codebase. The site claims over 5,000 business customers in Victoria, undated, and the same figure appears on the Sydney site. Footer runs 2007 to 2026.
