Loyverse POS — bank compatibility

Loyverse is a point-of-sale system for cafes, fashion and apparel, general retail and hospitality, and 1 more. Free because the payments pay for it — and the company behind it is a London acquirer, not a POS vendor.

Loyverse is the giant nobody in Australian hospitality talks about: over 350,000 active merchants in more than 170 countries, 30-plus languages, and around US$31 billion a year in sales running through it. The core POS, back office, kitchen display and customer display are free, with no monthly fee and no contract. Employee management, advanced inventory and unlimited sales history are paid add-ons.

Understand who owns it before you build a business on it. Loyverse began operations in 2014 and is now part of Teya Group, a London-based payments and software provider, which recruits for a product called Loyverse Pay under its own name. That is the business model in one line: the till is free because the company that owns it wants the payment. Nothing wrong with that — but it explains why the free tier is genuinely free and why the roadmap leans toward embedded payments.

In practice it suits a small café, takeaway, bar, bakery, grocer, salon or market stall running on an iPad or an Android tablet. It is not a multi-site enterprise platform and does not pretend to be. Tyro certifies it at Power Up tier, which is the practical route to an Australian bank terminal rather than whichever reader the global product defaults to.
