LPOS is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Lenards. The vendor is the chicken shop itself, and its network has shrunk from about 200 stores to roughly 17.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Lenard's Pty Ltd, ABN 96 010 711 145, runs out of the Capalaba area in Brisbane's Redlands. It was founded in 1987 by master butcher Lenard Poulter, whose first store was called The Poultry Shop, at Sunnybank Hills. It is widely credited with leading value-added fresh chicken retailing in Australia — handmade marinated lines, kievs, BBQ bags and ready meals rather than plain birds — and reported turnover of $146 million in the year to December 2008 with average store sales just under $1 million. Chicken is sourced from Inghams, and the business runs two arms, franchising and manufacturing.
Ownership is the part most franchisees never hear about. Brisbane private equity firm Blue Sky Alternative Investments took a 42 per cent stake through its EC2010 fund, with Poulter and management keeping 58 per cent; sources conflict on when, with trade press saying 2008 and Poulter himself quoted in 2021 saying he sold to private equity in 2012. A sale process through Ernst & Young was reported in 2013 at a valuation of up to $50 million. Blue Sky's fund exited in 2018 and Poulter bought the business back, returning it to founder control, with daughter Kelly Beach now on the management team. The store numbers tell the rest: about 200 across 2013 to 2015, 80 in 2018, 30 in September 2021, and 17 locations on the company's own store list today. If you are looking at LPOS, you are looking at a franchise system's own till, not a product on the open market.
