Menumate POS — bank compatibility

Menumate is a point-of-sale system for hospitality. A Christchurch hospitality system that went through liquidation in 2019 and came out the other side under new owners.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

Menumate has been selling point of sale to restaurants out of Christchurch for over 20 years, with customers across New Zealand, Australia, India, South East Asia, the UK and the Pacific Islands. It is a premium on-premise hospitality system by origin rather than a cloud-first one, and trade coverage of its 2019-20 rebuild describes it adding cloud reporting, a tableside Android ordering app and self-updating POS software on top of that base.

The part nobody advertises: MENUMATE LIMITED was put into liquidation at 8.25am on 11 April 2019, with Christine Johnston and Craig Melhuish of Nexia New Zealand appointed liquidators. Trade reporting describes new owners taking the business over in May 2019 and handing development to a Christchurch-based team. The new backers have never been publicly named.

So if you are weighing Menumate up, the software and the Christchurch development team have continuity but the corporate entity behind them does not. Ask who holds the IP and who your contract is actually with before you commit to a multi-site rollout.
