MerlinMAP POS is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Pharmhos Software. Hospital pharmacy software, not a shop till — and the distinction matters when you are specifying terminals.

Pharmhos Software builds medications management software for Australian hospital pharmacies — not retail point of sale, whatever the directory record says. MERLIN is the end-to-end hospital pharmacy system, covering drug management, distribution, purchasing, dispensing, PBS, additives, debtors and reporting. MerlinMAP is the web-enabled medications management layer on top of it, built to run on any PC, Mac, iOS or Android device.

It has a long record in Victorian public hospitals. Monash Medical Centre's pharmacy department at Southern Health — then the largest public health service in Victoria, with five major hospitals — ran a GS1 Australia standardisation project on Merlin in two phases from November 2003 to December 2007, reporting a 60% to 92% reduction in the time taken to receive stock into the Merlin system, and producing standardised interfaces made available to other hospital pharmacies on Merlin. Western Health moved its Melton and Bacchus Marsh pharmacy departments onto the Western Health Merlin application in June 2022. The knowledge base also carries Northern Territory Health material, so use extends beyond Victoria.

One honest caveat on the record: no point-of-sale module appears anywhere in Pharmhos's published material or the Merlin knowledge base. If you are specifying terminals for a hospital pharmacy running Merlin, treat the counter payment piece as a separate integration question and get it confirmed in writing rather than assumed from this listing.
