MetaPOS is a point-of-sale system for cafes, hospitality and restaurants. One of only three POS systems that went live with Tyro's embedded payments — meaning the tablet takes the tap and there is no terminal on the counter at all.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

It handles split bills. Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.

MetaPOS is a cloud point of sale running on ordinary Android and iOS tablets, aimed at quick service, cafes, pizza shops, restaurants and franchise groups. On its own that describes a crowded field. What makes it worth a second look is that when Tyro launched its embedded payments SDK on 5 December 2024, MetaPOS was one of just three systems live with it, alongside Liven and Ivida.

Embedded payments means the card tap happens on the tablet's own NFC chip. No separate EFTPOS terminal beside the till, no terminal rental, and Tyro charges per transaction instead of a monthly fee. For a small cafe, a market stall or a food truck that is a genuine change in what it costs to open a counter, not just a convenience. Tyro chief executive Jon Davey framed the launch around making "payments the easiest part of doing business"; the concrete version is one less box to buy and one less line on the monthly bill.

On the till side, the Tyro integration covers split payments, standard surcharging and integrated tipping as well as the basics — which is the set a table service venue actually needs, and more than many tablet-based systems in this directory manage.
