Microsoft Retail Management System v1.3& is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Perfume Empire. The vendor on this record was never a software company — it was a fragrance retail chain, and the till behind it is dead software.

Perfume Empire Pty Ltd was a Queensland company based at Toowong in Brisbane, with an ABN active from June 2004 and cancelled in May 2018. Its registered business names tell you what it was: Perfume Empire across several state registers from 2004 to 2012, Perfume Empire Knox at the Melbourne centre in 2006, and Designer Brands Perfume, Cosmetics & Accessories from 2007. A multi-site fragrance retailer, in other words, that ran Microsoft's till and ended up on Linkly's accredited register doing it. A customer, filed as a vendor.

The software is the more useful fact. Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System 2.0 started on 31 July 2007, mainstream support ended on 10 July 2016 and extended support ended on 13 July 2021. Microsoft stopped selling it to new customers in mid-2016 and pointed them at Dynamics for Retail with Retail Essentials, built on the Dynamics AX platform and now sold as Dynamics 365 Commerce. If you are still running RMS v1.3 or 2.0 anywhere, it has been out of support since 2021, and the usual destinations have been Retail Management Hero from Retail Realm — distributed across Australia and New Zealand by Advantage Solutions Distribution since September 2017 — or a move to something cloud.
