Microsoft Retail Management System v1.3 & POS — bank compatibility

Microsoft Retail Management System v1.3 & is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Mercarex. A Sydney company that stopped existing in 2012, sitting on top of software Microsoft stopped supporting in 2021.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

Mercarex Pty Ltd was an Australian private company registered around Rose Bay in Sydney, with an ABN active from 28 November 2006 and cancelled on 1 April 2012. No business or trading names were ever recorded against it, and it has no web presence at all — no site, no directory listing, no trade coverage, no Microsoft partner listing. Linkly's register carries it against Microsoft Retail Management System v1.3 and 2.0 for retail, and that register entry is the only thing tying the company to the product.

The software underneath is what you can actually pin down. RMS 2.0 began on 31 July 2007, lost mainstream support on 10 July 2016 and extended support on 13 July 2021. Microsoft stopped selling it to new customers in mid-2016, steering them to Dynamics for Retail with Retail Essentials on the Dynamics AX platform, now Dynamics 365 Commerce. Retail Realm's Retail Management Hero became the usual on-premise successor, distributed here by Advantage Solutions Distribution since 1 September 2017. A vendor deregistered in 2012 on software unsupported since 2021 is a reason to plan a migration, not to renegotiate a terminal.
