Mobi-POS — bank compatibility

Mobi-POS is a point-of-sale system for bars and pubs, cafes, hospitality and quick service, and 1 more, built by MobiPOS. The company behind it is Techbox Solutions. A Malaysian iPad till at about ten US dollars a month, and the support timezone is the catch.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

The integration covers split bills. Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.

MobiPOS is iPad-first point of sale, running since 2012, with a second iOS device doubling as a customer display and iPhones used for tableside ordering. Capterra names the vendor as Techbox Solutions, founded 2013 and listed under Malaysia. The company claims over 5,000 stores worldwide.

The feature set is genuinely good for the money: split bills, table management with timers, kitchen display, self-ordering kiosk, clock in and out, recipe-level stock deduction in decimal quantities, membership tiers, online ordering and gift cards, plus a "zero dependency" offline mode and CloudSync for remote management. Pricing starts around US$10 a month flat, with extra iPad licences at $5, iPhone at $3, CloudSync at $12 and online ordering at $15. Optional Star mPOP hardware pairs a printer and cash drawer.

Read the reviews before you buy. Capterra has it at 3.5/5 from a small sample with a 50% recommendation rate, and the complaint is consistent and specific. Alex: "very limited support in Australia (Malaysia based with some lead time to response)." On the other side Phil says "Card terminal integration works really well and is very quick," and Stephen that "MobiPOS has been bulletproof in our business." If you need someone to answer the phone mid-service on an Australian Friday night, factor that in.
