Mobile Eye Clinic — practice software and bank compatibility

Mobile Eye Clinic is practice-management software for allied health and health. Not software at all, but a visiting optometry practice that has run its own integrated terminal since 2002.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

Certified to do HealthPoint private health claiming, Medicare bulk billing and Medicare Easyclaim.

This one is miscategorised, and the correction is the useful part. Mobile Eye Clinic is not a software product and it is not practice management software. It is a mobile optometry practice: AHPRA-registered optometrists who examine patients in their own home, lounge or aged-care facility room. Its own site reads "Mobile Optometry Vision Care NSW, VIC, ACT, WA - Since 2002" and lists coverage across Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, Canberra, Perth and Melbourne. It appears in the payment-partner lists because the practice runs an integrated terminal, not because it sells one.

The claiming is the genuinely interesting bit for anyone comparing health terminals. Tyro's partner page lists its integrated features as purchases, refunds, Medicare Easyclaim for both bulk bill and patient paid, and Tyro HealthPoint, tagged Health and Allied. The practice's own site says bulk billing is available for eligible patients in line with the Medicare Benefits Schedule, that the consultation fee is generally rebatable through Medicare with additional services charged extra, and lists Home Care Package, DVA and private self-funded as the other payment pathways.

What it actually does, concretely: eye examinations covering vision problems and conditions like glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration; low vision and falls-prevention assessments looking at lighting, contrast and visual aids; and prescription glasses fitted on-site then delivered to the home or facility. It also runs a records portal for aged care facilities, which is most likely how it ended up filed alongside software vendors in the first place.

Health claiming at the terminal

Certified through Tyro for Medicare Easyclaim — bulk bill, Medicare Easyclaim — patient paid, Tyro HealthPoint. Tyro is its own acquirer, so claiming through the terminal means banking with Tyro.
