MobiPOS is a point-of-sale system for hospitality, built by MobiPOS Point-of-Sale. an iPad till from 2012 with 5,000-odd stores on it, sold here through a reseller rather than by the people who build it.
Certified on mx51, which is the engine behind several banks’ own terminal offerings rather than something a merchant buys by name.
It handles pay at table, tipping, phone and mail order and surcharging.
The mx51 integration uses SPI iOS and was last certified in May 2022, on iOS and iPadOS.
MobiPOS is an iPad point of sale built for retail and food service, founded in 2012, claiming more than 5,000 stores worldwide. The pitch that sets it apart is that it is standalone first: it runs offline or online, with CloudSync as an option rather than a requirement. That is the opposite of how most modern cloud tills are sold, and it is the reason people pick it.
The feature set is full enough for a venue: online ordering, gift cards, loyalty rewards, table booking, inventory and recipe tracking, reporting, kitchen display, multiple terminals, self-ordering kiosks and integrations. It also sells Star mPOP hardware, the combined receipt printer and cash drawer. Trial is 14 days with no card required. Named users include Basket Brothers, Hunter Poke and Zelicious Pizza.
The bit worth knowing if you are buying in Australia: mobipos.com.au is operated by Anthill Technologies as a MobiPOS authorised reseller, with an Australian mobile support number covering Australia and New Zealand. Your first point of contact locally is a reseller, not the developer — and nothing is published about where the developer itself is based.
