Mosaic POS — bank compatibility

Mosaic is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Raymark. Montreal clienteling software for luxury retail that has changed hands three times and is now a fading sub-brand.

Raymark Xpert Business Systems was a Montreal company whose own boilerplate claimed 25 years in retail by 2014, putting its start around 1989 or 1990. Mosaic Point of Sale launched at the NRF Big Show in January 2014 as a hardware- and OS-agnostic HTML5 mobile POS, designed to run with Mosaic Clienteling and Affinity Analytics. The niche was premium specialty and department-store retail — customer-centric selling on the shop floor, not a counter till. Saks Fifth Avenue reportedly ran its clienteling across 3,500 associates on iPads.

Mi9 Retail acquired Raymark on 3 November 2015, days after Summit Partners recapitalised Mi9 and partly funded the deal. After that the trail gets murky: Summit's own page records an exit to General Atlantic in 2017, while a 2018 trade headline puts HGGC behind Mi9, and the two cannot be reconciled from anything public. Where it ended up is clear enough — Elevate Software, a Fort Lauderdale investment firm with only two portfolio companies, completed its acquisition of Mi9 Retail on 31 January 2024.

Mosaic survives inside Mi9 as a de-emphasised name. Mi9's current point-of-sale page is headed simply "Point of Sale", with "Mosaic" surviving only in a data sheet link and image alt text, and the Raymark name appearing nowhere on it. No Australian or New Zealand customer is named on any current Mi9 page.
