MS Retail Management System POS — bank compatibility

MS Retail Management System is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Netnest. Five companies share the name and none of them is verifiably this one.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

Linkly's register lists Netnest against MS Retail Management System v2.0.13 for retail. Pinning the company down is where it comes apart: ABN Lookup returns five NetNest records across NSW and Victoria, some active and some cancelled, and none can be tied to retail software. One of them, a cancelled Victorian ABN, now carries the entity name HO Pty Ltd, with NetNest sitting on it only as a historical name. No website, Microsoft partner listing or trade coverage exists for a NetNest retail software business.

What is certain is the platform. Microsoft RMS 2.0 ran from 31 July 2007, mainstream support ended 10 July 2016 and extended support ended 13 July 2021, so a v2.0.13 install has been unsupported for years. Microsoft's own migration path was Dynamics for Retail with Retail Essentials, built on Dynamics AX and now sold as Dynamics 365 Commerce; the third-party route most RMS sites took was Retail Management Hero from Retail Realm, distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Advantage Solutions Distribution. Before you worry about which bank the terminal reaches, work out who still supports the till.
