MSL Kiosk - Micropower — bank compatibility

MSL Kiosk - Micropower is a self-service kiosk for cafes and hospitality. The self-order kiosk from the Brisbane club-and-stadium software house that listed on the ASX in 2017 and got taken private for about $120m five years later.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

This is a kiosk, not a counter till — the screen a member or spectator orders at, with the terminal taking payment at the end of the flow. It is listed here under the Micropower name, and the venues it's built for are clubs, pubs and stadiums rather than shops.

MSL Solutions listed on the ASX in May 2017 under the ticker MPW, having raised $16m the year before to fund the acquisitions of British hospitality software firm Verteda and Danish golf tournament specialist Golf Box. At listing it ran out of Brisbane with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, the UK and Denmark, about 130 staff, and over 600 clients including the MCG and ANZ Stadium. Its MPower Golf suite alone was in more than 1,200 golf clubs across Australasia and Europe.

Then it went private. In November 2022 Pemba Capital Partners, through Plutus Bidco, agreed to acquire 100% of MSL by scheme of arrangement at 29.5 cents a share — an implied equity value near $120m and an 80.7% premium to the one-month VWAP. For the year to 30 June 2022 MSL reported $33.9m revenue and $5.3m EBITDA. So the kiosk you're being quoted on comes from a Sydney private equity portfolio company now, not a listed one, and the public reporting that used to tell you how it was travelling has stopped.
