Neto is a point-of-sale system for fashion and apparel, general retail, gifts and homeware and retail, and 1 more. The company behind it is Maropost. Australian-built, Canadian-owned since 2021, and sitting in the same stable as Retail Express.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
Tyro rates it a Plus partner.
Neto was founded in Australia by Ryan Murtagh and grew into a combined ecommerce, POS, inventory and fulfilment platform with more than 3,000 retailers on it. Maropost, a Toronto marketing automation company, bought it on 18 March 2021 for $58 million CAD — about $60 million AUD — making Neto its third product and taking on Neto's staff and customers.
Then Maropost bought Retail Express, another Australian retail platform, in a $50 million CAD deal. So two of the better-known Australian omnichannel retail systems now answer to the same Canadian owner. If you are putting Neto and Retail Express side by side on a shortlist, you are comparing two products from one company — worth knowing before you treat the quotes as independent bids.
On the roadmap question, Maropost has kept Neto as its own named product with its own VP of Product and an active roadmap — new checkout, improved API, MyPost Business integration — and has said publicly that no migrations will be forced on any customer. It is separately building a Global Commerce Cloud platform whose modules Neto is meant to be able to draw on. That is a reasonable position, but "no forced migration" is exactly the sort of commitment worth getting in writing at renewal time.
