Newbook is a point-of-sale system for accommodation and hospitality. Gold Coast, 2010 — and it has changed owners twice in three years.

Certified on mx51 and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The mx51 route does not.

It handles pre-authorisation, phone and mail order and one till driving several terminals. Tyro rates it a Plus partner.

The mx51 integration uses SPI JavaScript and was last certified in March 2022, on Browser.

Newbook is a property management platform for holiday parks, caravan parks and campgrounds, with the POS sitting inside it rather than standing alone. Brad Illich founded it on the Gold Coast in 2010. Potentia Capital took a majority stake in April 2021, with Brad and Shaye Illich keeping significant ownership, and Shaun Cornelius came in as CEO in early 2023.

Then on 1 May 2024 the whole thing sold to Storable, an Austin, Texas company best known for self-storage software, which made Newbook its third vertical alongside storage and marine. The management team stayed. Scale at the time of the deal: over 50,000 users globally and about 250 bookings a minute through the platform.

For a park operator the honest read is this. The product is genuinely strong at the thing it does — bookings, sites, guests and the kiosk or counter sale all in one system — and the US parent has deep pockets. But the owner is now a Texas software group whose primary market is American self-storage, so push on local roadmap commitments and Australian support staffing when you negotiate, not just on price.
