Nomni Kiosk — bank compatibility

Nomni Kiosk is a self-service kiosk for cafes, hospitality, quick service and restaurants. A self-order screen that only makes sense if you are already on the platform behind it.

This is a kiosk, not a counter till. It came out of Abacus, the Melbourne POS company founded in 2015 by Peter Ling and Kheam Tan, whose range included self-ordering kiosks alongside POS, Android POS, kitchen display and table ordering. Abacus is now Nomni, and so is the rest of the group.

The group story is worth knowing before you commit. Liven — Melbourne, co-founded 2014 by Grace Wong, William Wong and David Ballerini, originally a cryptocurrency loyalty service for venues — announced $152 million of acquisitions in July 2023, buying Abacus, Sydney digital ordering business OrderUp (founded 2011 by John Saadie), Singapore procurement platform Zeemart and US venue analytics product Copper. Those brands are being brought under the single Nomni name, with Liven Australia Pty Ltd becoming Nomni Australia Pty Ltd from 1 June 2026. Reported scale after the deals: 6,000-plus venues, 200-plus staff, offices from Melbourne to Jakarta to New York.

A kiosk earns its keep in quick service and fast casual, where it moves queue time off the counter at peak; it does almost nothing for a table-service restaurant. Tyro certifies it at Premium tier, tagged for quick service, cafes and restaurants. The thing to test in a demo is the unattended payment flow — a kiosk has no staff member to hand the terminal over, so declines, cancellations and receipt handling all have to work on their own.
