Nomni POS is a point-of-sale system for cafes, hospitality and restaurants. A brand-new name on a five-year-old roll-up — Liven, Abacus, Order Up and Zeemart are all now Nomni.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
Certified for pay at table. Tyro rates it a Premium partner — their top tier.
If Nomni means nothing to you, that is because the badge is barely dry. The company behind it is Liven, co-founded in Melbourne in 2014 by Grace Wong, William Wong and David Ballerini — it started life as a cryptocurrency loyalty service for venues, of all things, with co-chief executive Shahrooz Chowdhury joining as a co-founder in 2017. In July 2023 Liven announced $152 million worth of acquisitions in one go: Abacus, the Melbourne POS company founded in 2015 by Peter Ling and Kheam Tan; OrderUp, the Sydney digital ordering business founded in 2011 by John Saadie; Zeemart, a Singapore procurement platform; and Copper, a US venue analytics product.
Those brands are now being folded into one name. Abacus and Liven both say they are part of Nomni alongside Order Up and Zeemart, and Liven Australia Pty Ltd legally becomes Nomni Australia Pty Ltd from 1 June 2026 — same ABN, same team, new entity name on the invoice. So Nomni POS is, in substance, the Abacus and Liven POS lineage under a group badge, not a new product written from scratch.
The group reported more than 6,000 venues and 200-plus staff after the acquisitions, with offices across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, New York and India. Its own about page quotes both 1,000-plus and 35,000-plus venues, so treat the venue count as unreliable. Named customers include Spudbar, Roll'd, Sushi Jiro and Ben & Jerry's. Tyro certifies it at Premium tier, its top level. The practical warning: roll-ups rationalise products, so ask which lineage your quoted system actually is and how long it is supported.
