Optomate Touch — practice software and bank compatibility

Optomate Touch is practice-management software for allied health and health. Monkey Software's on-premises optical system — and the vendor name is the reason nobody can ever find it.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

It handles HealthPoint private health claiming and multi-merchant. Tyro rates it a Plus partner.

Optomate is made by Monkey Software Pty Ltd, an optical practice management and eHealth records specialist working across Australia and New Zealand. The company says it has over 1,850 customers. Searching the product name gets you almost nothing; searching the vendor gets you the whole picture, which is worth knowing if you are trying to check them out yourself.

The important distinction is which Optomate you have. Optomate Touch is the on-premises product; Optomate.Net is the cloud one. They are sold alongside each other, with Touch Updates, a Touch API and Monkey Web Services around them. Being on the on-premises build affects everything from how the terminal connects to how updates reach you, so do not let the two get conflated in a quote. Optomate also plugs into ProVision's ProSupply ordering and ProAccounts invoicing, which is how a lot of independent optometry actually buys frames and lenses.

On claiming: the Tyro certification covers integrated purchases, refunds, multi-merchant, rebate estimates and Tyro HealthPoint. Rebate estimate is the one optometry practices care about — quoting the patient's out-of-pocket on glasses before they commit — and it is a shorter list than it looks. No Medicare Easyclaim in the set.
