Oracle Retail Xstore Point of Service is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by S60 Platform Services. Enterprise retail's default store till, with a lineage most of the chains running it could not tell you.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Xstore did not start at Oracle. It was built by Datavantage Corporation of Cleveland, Ohio, founded and led by Marvin Lader, which MICROS Systems acquired in a deal announced on 4 May 2003 for around $52 million. Under MICROS-Retail it was described as the division's fifth-generation point of sale application, written in Java and XML and carrying about twenty years of retail POS experience. Oracle got it when it bought MICROS in 2014.
Worth correcting a common belief: Xstore is not 360Commerce. Oracle did buy 360Commerce, an Austin, Texas Java retail software company founded in 2000, on 18 January 2006 for an undisclosed sum — but nothing published ties Xstore to that acquisition. The Xstore line runs Datavantage to MICROS to Oracle.
Today it is Oracle's flagship enterprise store POS, running in 95 countries with out-of-the-box translation in 13 languages, available as Xstore Classic, Desktop, Thin Client, Tablet and Handheld with Xstore Office behind it. Forrester named Oracle Retail a Leader in its Q3 2018 Point Of Service Wave and called it 'a best fit for sophisticated international retailers'. Named deployments include Bally, replacing more than 500 POS systems across 18 countries, plus Samsonite, Helzberg Diamonds and Chalhoub.
