Orbis POS — bank compatibility

Orbis POS is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by PDI Technologies. Bought-in British technology — PDI is a 1983 fuel and convenience back-office house that only entered the POS market in 2021.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Orbis Tech Ltd was founded in the UK in 2008, with offices in Malaysia, New Zealand and Latin America, selling a combined point-of-sale, back-office and head-office platform into retail, petroleum and hospitality. PDI Technologies signed a definitive agreement to acquire it on 1 September 2021 and at the same time hired Brad McGuinness — 30-plus years in POS, including 25 at Verifone — to run the new point-of-sale division. Terms were not disclosed. Sources disagree on Orbis's UK base: CB Insights says Southampton, GlobalAtlanta says London.
PDI itself is much older. Greg Gilkerson founded it in 1983 as Professional Datasolutions in Temple, Texas; it is now headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia and says it serves more than 200,000 convenience and petroleum sites in over 60 countries. It is a private-equity parcel that has been passed around: Luminate Capital bought it in 2015, TA Associates took a majority in 2016, Genstar Capital invested in 2017, and Insight Partners acquired it in 2019 with Genstar and TA both keeping minority stakes.
The niche is fuel and convenience, not general retail — fuel supply chain, back office, financial reporting, workforce management and logistics. It also owns GasBuddy and Fuel Rewards, with more than 20 million active users between them, which is an unusual thing for a POS and ERP vendor to have. Named customers include Circle K, Pilot, Rutter's, Parker's and Jacksons Food Stores. It bought Koupon in December 2021, Skupos in August 2023 and P97 Networks in April 2025.
