OscarPOS — bank compatibility

OscarPOS is a point-of-sale system for cafes, hospitality, quick service and restaurants, built by OscarPOS Software Solutions. A Perth company, and the directors who sell it are the ones who wrote it.

Certified on Linkly and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The Linkly route does not.

The integration covers cash out. Tyro rates it a Plus partner.

OscarPOS is a Perth point of sale business with 18 years of local hospitality and retail experience, operating out of the Riseley Corporate Centre in Booragoon. The software was written in-house — the company says by university-qualified professionals who are also directors of the business — and they claim thousands of long-term users Australia wide, with support quoted at 24/7/365 and Australian-based.

Feature-wise it leans administrative rather than flashy: stock control across multiple locations, remote store management, portable data terminals for table ordering, split billing, barcode scanning, and over 140 management and user reports. Accounting integrations cover Xero, MYOB and Reckon. The verticals are pubs, bars and clubs, restaurants and cafes, fruit and veg, grocery and convenience, and fuel and service stations.

One thing to get straight before you quote it. There are two OscarPOS products: this one, written in-house, and OscarPOS Cloud, which the company built with YumaPOS, an overseas developer with its own long track record. Local code and an overseas platform are very different propositions when you need a bug fixed or a feature added, so make the salesperson tell you which one you are being sold.
