PAR PixelPoint is a point-of-sale system for bars and pubs, hospitality and restaurants. A Toronto table-service product PAR bought in 2005, from a company that has since spent most of a billion dollars buying everything else.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
Certified for split bills and cash out.
PixelPoint Technologies was a privately held hospitality technology company in suburban Toronto with more than 5,000 installations in full-service restaurants worldwide when PAR Technology announced a letter of intent to buy it on 8 August 2005. The acquisition closed on 4 October 2005. PAR never disclosed the price; its FY2006 filing says only that it used $7.2 million in cash for acquisitions in 2005, the majority of it for PixelPoint. PAR described the product as POS, WebPOS, wireless and enterprise software suites for restaurants, sold mainly to independents through its dealer channel and designed specifically for table service.
PAR Technology Corporation is the parent — Delaware-incorporated, headquartered in New Hartford, New York, listed on the NYSE as PAR, with ParTech, Inc. as its main operating subsidiary. CEO Savneet Singh, who joined the board in 2018 and took the top job in March 2019, is credited with taking the company from near bankruptcy to a market capitalisation above $2.75 billion.
PAR is now the acquirer rather than the acquired, and that is the context for this record. It bought Australia's TASK Group for about US$206 million in July 2024, Stuzo in 2024, and Delaget for $132 million at the end of that year. PixelPoint, meanwhile, no longer appears on PAR's own about page product list — the brands it leads with are PAR Restaurant, Punchh Loyalty and PAR Intelligence. Draw your own conclusion about where the roadmap is going.
