PBSA POS is a point-of-sale system for butchers and grocers and retail, built by PBSA. Built for the trades that weigh things — butchers, seafood, grocery — with offices in four states, New Zealand and London.

It is certified on all three middleware layers that matter here — Linkly, mx51 and Tyro. Eighteen of the 1,127 systems on this site manage that, which leaves your choice of bank about as open as it gets.

It handles split bills, cash out, phone and mail order and surcharging. Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.

The Linkly integration runs on premise. The mx51 integration uses SPI .NET or Spice and was last certified in September 2021, on Windows. mx51 holds 2 separate certified builds for it, so what works depends which one you are on.

PBSA sells into food retail and wholesale rather than general retail: butchers, grocery, seafood, bakeries, cafes, delis, and wholesale and manufacturing operations. It runs offices across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, with support out of Auckland and London as well.

Scales are the reason it exists. The software integrates with commercial weighing equipment for both retail and wholesale, with label printing, inventory tracking, loyalty and purchase-history-based marketing around it. A butcher evaluating a general cloud POS usually discovers the scale problem too late; PBSA starts there.

One nice detail for anyone who has worked a December in a butcher shop: it markets Christmas order management as a headline feature, which tells you the people who built it have been in the back of one.

Connected through

A POS reaches a bank through middleware. Each card below is one certified route; the banks it reaches are on the middleware page.
