Platinum POS — bank compatibility

Point-of-sale system by Toshiba TEC · All point-of-sale systems

Platinum POS is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Toshiba TEC. Tokyo-listed, and owner of the old IBM checkout business since 2012 — though nothing called Platinum POS appears in its catalogue.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

Toshiba Tec Corporation was established on 21 February 1950 and trades on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with net sales of ¥569 billion for the year to March 2026 and just over 15,000 consolidated employees across 62 group companies. Its three segments are Retail Solutions, Workplace Solutions and ODM. The retail arm is the former IBM Retail Store Solutions business, which Toshiba Tec agreed to buy in April 2012 for about US$850 million and now wholly owns as Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions.

On the product name, be careful. Toshiba Tec's published POS application list runs TCxGravity, TCxAmplify, storeMate, Antara, SurePOS ACE, VisualStore, TCxVector, TCx Pay and TCx Elevate, and its hardware catalogue runs TCx 300, 810, 820 and 900. Nothing called Platinum appears in either, or anywhere else on Toshiba's sites. The only genuine PlatinumPOS is an unrelated independent developer with South African and US contact numbers and no Toshiba connection at all. Worth separating too: Toshiba Tec's Australian presence is the print and copier business, while the POS entity here is Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions (Australia) Pty Ltd.
