POS Solutions is a point-of-sale system for retail. The newsagency incumbent — founded by a programmer in 1983 and credited with writing Australia's first standardised newsagency package.

Certified on both Linkly and mx51, which between them cover most of the acquiring market.

Certified to do cash out, phone and mail order and surcharging.

The Linkly integration runs on premise. The mx51 integration uses SPI .NET or Spice and was last certified in January 2023, on Windows. mx51 holds 2 separate certified builds for it, so what works depends which one you are on.

POS Solutions was founded in 1983 by programmer Bernard Zimmermann and operates out of Keysborough in Melbourne's south-east. Its claim to fame is 1990, when marketing director Zac Varga helped develop what is described as Australia's first standardised newsagency software package — and newsagencies are still where it has the strongest hold. It was among the first Microsoft Certified Partners in Australia and employed around fifty people by 2007.

The range now runs wider than newsagents: pharmacies, pet shops, gift shops, cafes and restaurants and bars, general retail, and wholesale and distribution. Products scale from entry-level single-till software up to multi-user enterprise, with accounting built in. The company talks about "thousands of satisfied clients Australia-wide" and local offices across the country rather than publishing a site count. Over forty years independent, which in this market is worth noting on its own.
