PracSuite is practice-management software for allied health and health. The cloud product Smartsoft is moving every Front Desk practice onto, which makes it less an upgrade than a destination.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
Certified for HealthPoint private health claiming, Medicare bulk billing, Medicare Easyclaim and multi-merchant. Tyro rates it a Plus partner.
Smartsoft has sold practice management software to Australian allied health for over two decades, and Front Desk — its desktop system — has been in clinics for more than 30 years. PracSuite is the replacement: cloud, and running on PC, Mac, iPad and mobile instead of a box in the back office. Smartsoft has set Front Desk's support end date at 1 October 2027, so for existing Front Desk practices this is the road out, not an optional extra. Do not let it be sold to you as a nice-to-have.
On claiming it is the more complete of the two. Certified with Tyro for Medicare Easyclaim across bulk bill, part paid and patient paid, Tyro HealthPoint for health fund rebates, multi-merchant, and rebate estimates — that last one is on PracSuite and not on Front Desk. If you run multiple sites billing through separate entities, multi-merchant is the feature to ask about by name rather than assuming it is on by default.
The practical read: if you are on Front Desk and due for a terminal refresh anyway, time the two together. Moving platforms and moving acquirers in the same month is painful, but doing them twelve months apart means paying for the migration twice.
Health claiming at the terminal
Certified through Tyro for Medicare Easyclaim — bulk bill, Medicare Easyclaim — part paid, Medicare Easyclaim — patient paid, Rebate estimate, Tyro HealthPoint. Tyro is its own acquirer, so claiming through the terminal means banking with Tyro.
