Principle is cloud-based dental practice management software from Principle Theorem Pty Ltd, written from the ground up rather than ported off a Windows product. The company pitches it as re-engineering dental practices rather than digitising the old workflow, and sells a companion product, Level Up, for building practice systems and training staff. This is practice management, not a point of sale — calling it a till would miss what it does and what it has to do.

What matters at a dental reception desk is which claims go through without reaching for a second device. Through its Tyro Health integration, Principle covers Medicare bulk bill and patient claims including Easyclaim in all three forms — bulk bill, part paid and patient paid — plus Medicare Online, Department of Veterans' Affairs claims, icare NSW workers insurance, and private health fund claims through HealthPoint Digital, with Medibank, ahm, nib, Bupa and GMHBA among the funds.

On top of that sit integrated EFTPOS purchases, refunds and split payments, card-not-present payments over the phone, and payment links by SMS, which is the practical answer for a telehealth or follow-up consult.
