Quest Retail Technology is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by NCR Hospitality (previously Quest Retail Technology). An Adelaide company that sold for A$60.9 million, ended up inside NCR, and had its products killed off in 2021.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Quest Retail Technology was an Adelaide business making point-of-sale and back-office systems for stadiums and arenas — a genuinely world-class Australian export in a narrow, brutal niche. Radiant Systems agreed to buy it on 11 December 2007 for A$60,900,000 and closed in January 2008, reporting it under its Retail and Entertainment segment. NCR then bought Radiant Systems in a deal announced 11 July 2011 and completed 24 August 2011 for US$1.2 billion, and Quest came with it.
Under NCR it became NCR Quest, and it went into a lot of big rooms: Suncorp Stadium, Adelaide Oval, Singapore Sports Hub, State Farm Stadium, Metricon Stadium in Queensland, and Hunter Stadium in Newcastle with 90 terminals across 28 food and beverage outlets. The directory record reading 'NCR Hospitality (previously Quest Retail Technology)' is the end point of that chain.
And then NCR ended it. In September 2021 NCR announced end-of-life and end-of-support for the stadium and arena Quest products — Quest Venue Manager, Quest Suites and Quest Suites Catering Online — communicated to more than 200 major venues, with MyVenue named as the preferred transition partner. NCR itself split on 16 October 2023, with retail and restaurant going to NCR Voyix and the ATM business to NCR Atleos. If you are a venue still running Quest, you are running a product its vendor formally retired.
