Retail Express POS — bank compatibility

Retail Express is a point-of-sale system for general retail and retail. Brisbane-built, 5,200 retailers on it, and sold to a Canadian commerce group for $55 million at the end of 2021.
Certified on Linkly and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The Linkly route does not.
Certified for split bills. Tyro rates it a Premium partner — their top tier.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Aaron Blackman founded Retail Express in Brisbane in 2006 and built it into the mid-market and enterprise end of Australian and New Zealand retail — multi-store operators who need inventory, fulfilment and reporting as much as a till. By the time it sold it had more than 5,200 retailers and 45,000 users on the platform, and had processed over $50 billion in transactions.
Maropost, a Toronto-based commerce and marketing software group, closed the acquisition in late December 2021 and announced it in January 2022. The price was north of $50 million Canadian, around $55 million Australian, paid with a mix of cash, options, Maropost funds and debt. The 60-plus-person team went across and the brand was kept running independently.
The practical read: this is no longer an Australian-owned product, and the roadmap now answers to a group whose other half is email and marketing automation rather than retail.
