Retail point of sale is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by SMARTERCOMMERCE. An Oracle JD Edwards add-on rather than a shop till, and the company is North American.
Certified on Linkly, running in the cloud. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs in the cloud.
SmarterCommerce sells an all-in-one commerce platform built deeply into Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, spanning eCommerce, payments, retail and customer service with order-to-cash across both B2B and B2C. It runs out of Miami, lists its region as North America and supports English and Spanish, and it is an Avalara Premier partner and certified implementation provider for AvaTax, ECM Pro and Managed Returns.
The point of sale here is one module of an ERP extension. The industries it lists run from accounting and beverage and alcohol through energy, government, hospitality, manufacturing, restaurants and retail to supply chain logistics — a spread that only makes sense once you see the common factor, which is a customer already running JD Edwards. Nobody buys this as their first system.
For an Australian merchant that means two things. The install base here is large enterprise, and the POS decision is a line item inside a much bigger ERP relationship. Expect a procurement process and a tax-compliance conversation, not a handshake over a terminal.
