Retail Touch Point-of-sale POS — bank compatibility

Retail Touch Point-of-sale is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by ABS. Grocery, liquor and fuel forecourt specialist with 1,600 POS lanes, an IGA accreditation, and a Queensland registration run off an Adelaide phone number.

Certified on mx51, which is the engine behind several banks’ own terminal offerings rather than something a merchant buys by name.

Certified for cash out and phone and mail order.

The mx51 integration uses SPI .NET and was last certified in July 2019, on Windows.

The entity is ABS Business Software Pty Ltd, ABN active from 6 September 2022, registered in QLD 4208. It holds four business names: ABS POS Systems and ABS RetailTouch POS Systems from October 2024, then Adelaide Business Software and RetailTouch from November 2024. That third one is the closest thing to an answer on what ABS stands for -- the company never spells it out anywhere, but "Adelaide Business Software" sits on the same ABN, and both the product site and the Zeller listing publish an Adelaide landline. Registered in Queensland, run out of Adelaide.

The site claims ABS has "specialised exclusively in POS for over 20 years", which does not square with a 2022 ABN. There is a predecessor entity or a restructure in there that is not on the public record. What is verifiable: over 1,600 POS lanes, an IGA Retail Technology POS Accreditation, and a claim to be the only POS system to reach Platinum Partner status for Lucky 7 convenience stores nationally.

The verticals are hard retail, not hospitality: convenience and supermarket, liquor and bottle shops, hardware and rural, fuel and forecourt, newsagency and gifts, department stores and multi-site retailers. It sells Avery Berkel deli scales alongside the software and integrates to fuel pump controllers and Touch Networks. If you run a servo or an IGA, it belongs on a short list. One practical warning: there are three domains in play for one vendor -- abspos.net, eposplus.net and retailtouch.com.au -- and do not confuse it with the unrelated US product BPA Retail Touch POS.
