SapphireOne POS — bank compatibility

SapphireOne is a point-of-sale system for general retail and retail. An ERP that has been shipping since 1986 and still has its founding CEO at the top of it.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
The integration covers cash out. Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.
SapphireOne is a full ERP, not a till. Accounts, inventory, job projects and costing, fixed assets, payroll and HR, management reporting, CRM and document management in one application. Point of sale sits inside the Inventory module, and again in Web Pack, the browser front end. That changes how you buy it: you are not shopping for a POS, you are buying a business system that happens to have a register in it.
The history is unusually long. John Adams started the work in 1979 in Timaru, New Zealand, moved the business to Australia in 1982, and shipped version 1 in 1986. He is still founding CEO. The company is Australian-owned, runs out of Bondi Beach in NSW, and version 21.0 landed in January 2026. Licensing allows unlimited companies, web users and concurrent users rather than per-seat.
They have done the compliance work — ISO 27001 since 2018, repeat certification as an ATO Digital Service Provider from 2021 — and it runs on both Mac and Windows, which almost nothing else in this category does. Deployment is on-premise with browser access bolted on through Web Pack rather than cloud-first. Depending on your IT setup that is either the selling point or the dealbreaker.
Connected through
A POS reaches a bank through middleware. Each card below is one certified route; the banks it reaches are on the middleware page.
