TabSquare AI POS — bank compatibility

TabSquare AI is a point-of-sale system for cafes, quick service and restaurants. Singapore-built, and Coca-Cola Amatil's venture arm put money into it — which is how a table-ordering startup ended up with an Australian bankroll.

TabSquare started in Singapore in 2012 and sells AI-driven ordering and customer engagement to restaurants — sit-down, quick service, cafes, food courts and hotel dining. By late 2018 it was running around 6,000 active terminals and serving roughly 12 million diners a year, on about $7.2m of funding, with Chirag Tejuja as a co-founder. The pitch has always been the data: capture what diners choose at each interaction, then personalise the menu they see.

The Australian connection is the interesting part of the ownership story. Amatil X — the corporate venturing arm of Coca-Cola Amatil, the Australian bottler — took a minority stake in October 2018, a couple of months after backing the Australian hospitality middleware startup Doshii. Amatil X's Chris Sullivan said they were impressed by the solution TabSquare was promoting. Then in July 2023 TabSquare paired up with foodpanda, the Delivery Hero brand, to push AI ordering into restaurants across Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Taiwan.

Worth setting expectations on the terminal side. The Tyro certification is thin — integrated EFTPOS and integrated purchases only. No refunds, no cash out, no split payments through the integration. For a venue that does a lot of table-level bill splitting, that is a gap you want to understand before you build the floor workflow around it.
