Tabsquare POS — bank compatibility

Tabsquare is a point-of-sale system for hospitality. A Singapore table-ordering outfit started by three INSEAD graduates, and it belongs to Delivery Hero now.

TabSquare was founded in Singapore in 2012 by Chirag Tejuja, Sankaran Sreeraman and Anshul Gupta. It does tablet and QR table ordering, self-ordering kiosks, AI dish recommendation and payments rather than a back-office till. Funding ran to a Series A of about US$2.57 million led by Walden International, then a S$10 million Series B in October 2018 led by Tokyo-listed Kakaku.com. The Australian thread is in that round: Coca-Cola Amatil took a minority stake through its venture arm Amatil X, announced 11 October 2018, after finding the company through an employee in its own accelerator.

TabSquare's own site says it is part of the Delivery Hero family. The date is murky and worth treating as unconfirmed — PitchBook gives 2021 but contradicts itself across two entries, and no press release or Delivery Hero filing names a date or a price. What is clearly documented is that in July 2023 foodpanda and TabSquare launched a joint AI in-restaurant product across Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Taiwan, which is two Delivery Hero assets going to market together.

Current products are Vibe, MunchMate and SmartPay, and it claims 7,000-plus restaurants across ten markets including Australia and New Zealand. It appears on Linkly's accredited POS vendor list in Australia as Tabsquare v1.00, tagged hospitality. Be wary of the statistics on its own site — several of the counters render as "0+" rather than a number.
