Transaction Plus POS — bank compatibility

Transaction Plus is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by GK Software. Not a till — it is the payment layer underneath one, from a German retail software house Fujitsu now owns outright.

First, the category. GK's own product page calls it GK Payments TransAction+ and describes it as retail payment processing software, not a point of sale: it supports more than 40 payment processors, handles debit, PIN-less debit, credit, EBT, eWIC, gift cards, loyalty and cheques, routes transactions by cost, and was one of the first solutions certified for both end-to-end encryption and EMV across multiple platforms. The page also labels it US-only. That matters for anyone reading this record as an Australian till option.

GK Software was founded in 1990 in Schoneck in Vogtland, Germany, by Rainer Glass and Stephan Kronmuller, and listed on the Deutsche Borse Prime Standard in 2008. It is big where it counts: 65,000 stores across 66 countries as of January 2023, later restated as more than 685,000 retail and payment installations in 70-plus countries, with more than a quarter of the world's top 50 retailers on it — Adidas, Aldi, Coop Switzerland, Edeka, Lidl and Walmart International among them. RBR ranked it fourth worldwide for all POS installations in 2023.

Fujitsu took it. A voluntary takeover offer at EUR190.00 a share — an equity value of about EUR432 million — was announced on 1 March 2023; Fujitsu held 68.03% by May 2023, over 72% by January 2024, and completed the acquisition on 27 May 2025, making GK a wholly owned Fujitsu subsidiary. GK delisted from the German exchanges on 1 August 2023.
