Uniwell HX Series is a point-of-sale system for hospitality, built by Uniwell POS Australia. Japanese embedded terminals with an Australian software layer on top — the opposite of the cloud-first pitch.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

Uniwell POS Australia opened in 1999 and has been working with Australian hospitality and food retail venues ever since. The hardware is designed and manufactured by Uniwell Corporation in Japan, which has been producing POS terminals since 1978, and the Australian operation pairs that with Australian-developed and supported management software under the Uniwell4POS banner. It sells through a dealer network across Australia rather than direct.

The HX series is the embedded line — HX-4500, HX-5500 and HX-6500. The HX-5500 is a 15.6-inch capacitive hybrid touchscreen; the HX-6500 is an all-in-one embedded terminal pitched at high-volume environments. Embedded is the operative word: these are purpose-built devices with a long-standing reputation for speed and stability, not Windows PCs with a till program on them, and that is the whole argument for buying one.

On the payments side, the Tyro Connect integration requires HX series firmware v5.40 or later, with customers live across Australia. If you are quoting terminals against an existing HX fleet, the firmware version is the first thing to check — it decides which integrations are even available to you.
