Uniwell POS is a point-of-sale system for bars and pubs, cafes, fast food and hospitality, and 2 more. Terminal-maker heritage rather than a software startup, which is why you still see these in bakeries that have run the same till for a decade.

Uniwell POS Australia Pty Ltd has been building point of sale for Australian hospitality and food retail for over 20 years, supplying nationwide. It comes at this from the hardware end: the HX-6500, HX-5500 and HX-4500 touch terminals, plus printers, customer displays, scanners and scales, cash drawers and kitchen display systems, with Uniwell Lynx as the back-office software behind them. That is a different animal to a cloud POS that happens to resell an iPad stand.

Where it actually lives is food retail and the quick end of hospitality — bakeries, cafes, fresh food, fast food, bars and bistros, restaurants. Bakery is the one it is genuinely known for, and the scales-and-labels side of the peripheral range is why. If you are weighing product and printing tickets, that integration is the reason to look at it over a general hospitality POS.

The Tyro certification is one of the more complete lists in the directory: integrated purchases, receipts, refunds, cash out, reports, split payments, manual settlement, tipping and pay at table. Pay at table and tipping together is the combination most hospitality venues want and plenty of mid-tier systems do not have, so this one punches above its profile on the payments side.
