Veras CheckOut - Linkly Interface — payment connector

Payment connector by Veras Retail · All point-of-sale systems

  • retail

Veras CheckOut - Linkly Interface is not a point-of-sale system — it is the payment connector that joins a point-of-sale system to the terminal, through Linkly. Built by Veras Retail. The Linkly module for an American enterprise till most Australians have never heard of — though it quietly inherited JDA's point-of-sale business and has already done upgrades here.

Worth being clear about what this is, because the directories list it alongside the tills: you do not buy this instead of a point-of-sale system, you buy it to connect one you already have.

This record is the connector, not the POS. Veras CheckOut is the point-of-sale software; the Linkly interface is the piece that lets it drive an Australian EFTPOS terminal. If you're evaluating anything here, you're evaluating Veras CheckOut and whoever implements it.

Veras Retail was founded in 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona as Zoftec LLC by Rohit Vir, who is still chief executive. The company took its current shape in May 2016 when it acquired JDA Software's point-of-sale business — JDA Store POS, JDA Win/DSS and JDA CRM. Win/DSS is still supported but closed to new customers, and Veras positions CheckOut as its successor. That matters locally: Veras says it has completed five major WIN/DSS upgrades, in the United States, the Philippines and Australia. If you're a large retailer still sitting on a legacy JDA till, this is the path you're most likely to be offered.

Scale, on the company's own numbers: more than 50 retailers across 16 countries and over 130,000 points of sale. Veras Locate handles store inventory and Veras Activate handles promotions alongside the till.
