Vexilor POS — bank compatibility

Vexilor is a point-of-sale system for cafes, hospitality, quick service and restaurants, built by Givex Australia. Shift4 has owned it since late 2024 — the same American acquirer that took over Vectron, which is also on this site.

Certified on Linkly and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The Linkly route does not.

Vexilor is the point of sale platform of Givex, a Toronto company founded in 1999 and run by chief executive Don Gray that built its business on gift cards and loyalty before layering POS on top. By the time it sold, Givex was in more than 130,000 locations across 100-plus countries, with Nike, Marriott, 7-Eleven, Wendy's, Best Western and Texas Roadhouse on the client list. It had been buying too — Chase Paymentech's gift card business, and POS Canada specifically to push Vexilor out faster.

Shift4 Payments (NYSE: FOUR) agreed to acquire Givex in September 2024 for C$200 million in cash at C$1.50 a share, a 55% premium to the prior close, with Givex delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange on completion. Shift4's president Taylor Lauber said plainly that the point was to dramatically increase Shift4's customer base.

Here is the thing worth carrying into a negotiation. Shift4 had already taken a majority stake in German POS maker Vectron Systems three months earlier, in June 2024. So if you are comparing Vexilor against Vectron, you are comparing two products with the same owner, and the stated reason for both deals was monetising payments across an installed base that was not paying Shift4 for processing. Expect the payments conversation to lead the POS conversation.
