VIX POS is a point-of-sale system for automotive and transport, built by Vix Technology. Transit fare collection rather than shop tills, and the company is what survived of ASX-listed ERG after it sold itself in 2008.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Vix does automated fare collection, intelligent transport systems and passenger information displays for public transport. Any terminal in its world sits in a transit ticket office or a driver's console, not behind a shop counter. Its current product set is Pulse, Beacon, Compass, Whisper cEMV, smart gates and devices like the DC120 all-in-one driver console — an electronic ticketing machine built into a tablet. Nothing on its site is branded "POS", so treat that product name as a directory label rather than the vendor's own.
The corporate history is the interesting part, and it is all on the register. The Australian entity, ABN 51 008 895 047, was ERG Transit Systems Ltd until 2 November 2010. ERG was founded in 1984, ASX-listed and Perth-based, and built the Octopus card in Hong Kong and EZ-Link in Singapore through an alliance with Motorola. On 31 December 2008 ERG sold its operating assets to Vix, renamed itself Videlli in March 2009, delisted that June and was finally liquidated in February 2018 — after the NSW government terminated the Sydney Tcard contract in January 2008 and the parties settled in February 2012.
Today Vix says 650-plus employees, 17 offices, systems in more than 200 cities and over 500,000 devices deployed in 35 years. Business News WA describes it as Perth-based and owned by a private investment group led by Duncan Saville, though Vix's own site now lists Melbourne as its APAC and global headquarters and Perth as an engineering centre. Recent work includes Transport for Greater Manchester's Bee Network and ten smart gates at Exeter Central for Great Western Railway.
