WinPOSt (Windows POSt) is a point-of-sale system for retail. The till behind a big slice of Australia's independent grocers, liquor stores and service stations.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
Certified to do split bills and cash out.
Worldsmart runs out of Wayville in Adelaide, just across from the Adelaide Showground, with offices in Macquarie Park, Laverton North, Rivervale and Eight Mile Plains. It has been in retail technology for more than 30 years and integrated with Australian banks and EFTPOS providers for over 20, working exclusively with independent Australian retailers across grocery and convenience, liquor, pharmacy, hardware, and fuel and service stations. More than 2,600 stores run on its platform across Australasia, and Microsoft described it in 2016 as the largest POS technology provider to independent grocery retailers in Australia.
WINPOSt is the long-standing product name — Tyro's partner directory lists WinPOSt under the legal entity Worldsmart Retail Pty Ltd, integrating for cashout, manual settlement, purchases, receipts, refunds, reports and split payments. The current platform branding is SmartRetail, with Payments, Business Intelligence, Customer Loyalty, E-Commerce and Labour Management alongside it. On payments the company integrates directly with Windcave and Tyro, and supports bank terminals from ANZ, CommBank, NAB, Westpac and St George, plus Zip, Afterpay, WeChat and Alipay.
The ownership answer is on their own site and most of their customers will not know it: Worldsmart is now backed by Banyan Software, a group founded in 2016 that has acquired more than 130 software businesses across 19 countries and has never sold one. Banyan's model is permanent ownership of vertical software, so this is not a prelude to a resale — but it does mean an Adelaide supplier to independent grocers now answers to a global acquirer.
