Workshop Software is a point-of-sale system for automotive and transport and retail. a Warriewood outfit that has quietly put 9,400-odd mechanics onto the same job card.
Certified on mx51, which is the engine behind several banks’ own terminal offerings rather than something a merchant buys by name.
It handles phone and mail order.
The mx51 integration uses SPI JavaScript and was last certified in September 2019, on Browser.
This is garage management software — job cards, quotes, digital vehicle inspections, automated service reminders, stock and supplier ordering, online bookings — for independent mechanical workshops. Workshop Software Pty Ltd sits at Warriewood on Sydney's northern beaches. The company says it has been helping workshops for over 30 years, and its own counters put it at more than 9,400 users and roughly 8.5 million invoices processed.
It has exported properly rather than just being available overseas: support numbers for Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom and South Africa, and a sister product, DealershipSoft, for the larger end of the market. Accounting integration covers Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB.
One thing to have front of mind when you are shopping terminals: the vendor sells its own payment product, WorkshopPay. That does not make the POS integration worse, but it does mean the people recommending a payment option are not neutral about it. There is nothing public on ownership — no announced sale, no investor, just the Pty Ltd on the site.
