Xestro — practice software and bank compatibility

Xestro is practice-management software for health and medical specialists. A doctor got fed up with his own practice software and wrote this one instead — and it is now the obvious landing spot for the specialists whose system is switched off in 2027.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
It handles split bills and multi-merchant. Tyro rates it a Plus partner.
Xestro is cloud-native practice management for private specialist medicine — patient records, appointments, billing and clinical notes in a browser, with no server in the back room. Chief executive Bert Pruim started building it in 2012 with a single developer. It went live in 2018 and his own practice was the first to migrate. The company is based at Maroochydore on the Queensland Sunshine Coast and says it runs a team of 40 there with no remote workers and no outsourcing — unusual, and a reasonable thing to ask about when you are weighing up who answers the phone.
The scale claims are specific: more than 4,500 specialist practitioners and more than 3,600 practice locations across every Australian state. The product includes XScribe, a native AI scribe, which is where this corner of the market is heading fast.
The context that explains the growth is a forced migration. Bp VIP.net — the old on-premise practice management and clinical records system originally written by Derek Gower in Hamilton, New Zealand, for ophthalmologists, and acquired by Best Practice Software about a decade ago — is being retired by June 2027. Pruim used it himself for 18 years from 2000 and calls it, in its heyday, "the most configurable on-premise practice management and clinical records platform in Australia." His advice to practices facing the switch is blunt: "Start earlier than you think you need to." For claiming and payments, this is a practice management system rather than a retail till, so the terminal question is about Medicare and health fund claiming at the desk, not scan rates.
