Agnostic at platform level. A bank-branded MPGS offering is not — it settles through that bank, and the feature set depends on how the reseller has configured it.

MPGS, also sold as Mastercard Gateway, is the platform a great many banks licence and re-badge. If two bank gateways feel oddly similar to integrate against, this is usually why — and it is also why moving between two MPGS-based gateways is closer to a reconfiguration than a rebuild.

At platform level it is agnostic. What a merchant buys usually is not: a bank-branded MPGS gateway settles through that bank, and which features are switched on depends on the reseller rather than on Mastercard.

The integration options are Hosted Checkout and Hosted Session at the simple end, a REST/JSON API and the older NVP API for direct integration, and a batch API for file-based processing. Risk assessment, 3-D Secure and tokenisation are in the platform, with wallet support subject to configuration.
