Adyen

Head office:
Amsterdam, Netherlands

Dutch-listed acquirer serving enterprise and large-merchant Australia, and an AusPayNet participant member — though which entity holds local acquiring is not publicly documented.

About Adyen

Adyen is an AusPayNet participant member and an AP+ scheme member, and is named in both the RBA’s card-present and card-not-present least-cost-routing tables — strong evidence of a genuine Australian acquiring role. It is not on APRA’s ADI register, another illustration that ADI status is not a prerequisite for acquiring here.

There is a documentation gap worth flagging. Adyen’s own Australian licences page describes the local entity’s services as payout and platform voucher services and does not state which entity holds the acquiring role, so whether Australian Visa and Mastercard acquiring sits with Adyen Australia Pty Limited or with Adyen N.V., which holds a Dutch banking licence, could not be established.

Its Australian positioning is enterprise and large-merchant rather than small business, competing on a single platform across in-store, online and in-app rather than on a published flat rate.
