Commonwealth Bank

- Sydney, NSW, Australia
Australia's largest bank by assets and a top-tier acquirer, with its own Smart terminal family and an eCommerce stack currently mid-rebuild.
About Commonwealth Bank
Established under the Commonwealth Bank Act 1911 and fully privatised in 1996, CBA is Australia’s largest bank, with A$1,252.45 billion in total residents’ assets on APRA’s July 2026 monthly statistics and A$1,452,456 million in group total assets at 30 June 2026.
It acquires card transactions itself and contracts with merchants under its own merchant agreement. The hardware is own-branded — Smart, Smart Mini, Smart Integrated and Essential Plus — with claimed integrations to 110+, 500+ and 750+ point-of-sale systems respectively.
Its online acquiring is in transition and a merchant should ask about it directly: CBA’s own site states PowerBoard, CommWeb and BPOINT are no longer available to new customers, and that a new eCommerce platform is being integrated into the bank during 2026.
