The ApolloMax adds what the Apollo leaves out: an EMV L1 v4.3 contact card reader and a three-track magstripe reader. For a site that has to accept a card somebody inserts or swipes — an older fleet card, an international visitor with no contactless — that is the whole difference.
It costs depth and sealing. The body grows from 28.5mm to 39.5mm and from 83.2mm wide to 86.5mm, and the front rating drops from IP65 to IP50, because a card slot is a hole. On an exposed outdoor install that trade is the decision; under cover it is not.
Everything else is shared with the Apollo — the same ARM Cortex A7, the same 3.5-inch touchscreen, the same Linux platform, PCI PTS 6.x, EVA-compliant frame, MDB at 12 to 24V, IK09 and -20 to 55C.
What it costs
The rate you pay is negotiated on your volume and card mix, not set by the terminal — two businesses on the same ApolloMax can be paying very different money. Find out what yours should be.
